Included in the content pack are two key tomes: the
Tome of Evolution, adding evolving units and spells to enhance these units, and the
Tome of Dragons, introducing spells to summon, control, and even transform into dragons.Furthermore, the
Ashen War, a realm where six mighty elder dragons are engaged in conflict, is a new feature offering careful selection of alliances for a victorious end.
Dragon Rulers

Players can choose between two Dragon Lords, each with a specific affinity – the
Chaos Dragon, dealing fire damage, and the
Astral Dragon, dealing lightning damage.Unlike the wealth-focused Champions and spell-focused Gaudia, Dragon Lords primarily concentrate on combat and battlefield tactics. The Dragon Lords’ distinctiveness also comes from their
Dragon Horde ability, letting them profit from unused items. However, to balance their power, they have a starting 30-gold unit upkeep and limitations on the number of hero items they can equip due to their dragon form.Players have extensive customization options for their Dragon Lords, including the choice of an affinity alignment that influences the type of damage dealt. These Dragon Lords, armed with dragon claws as their primary weapon, have a special ability called
Draconic Rage, dealing additional damage when their hit points fall below 60.
Lizardfolk

The
Lizardfolk is a new physical form in this expansion, endowed with unique traits like being poisonous and cold-blooded. While players can create a Lizardfolk leader, it bars them from selecting the Dragon Lord hero type.
New Tomes

Two new magical
tomes introduced in the Dragon Dawn DLC enhance the strategic choices available to players. The
Tome of Evolution, for the first time in the game’s history, provides access to two different branches of the tree, both under the nature category. It offers one nature affinity and one chaos affinity. This DLC also unlocks the
Tome of Dragons at tier 3. This tome introduces powerful dragon units and skills, varying with the player’s alignment.Additionally, it contains the
Draconian Transformation, a unit enchantment that changes the target race into Draconians, gifting them with draconic rage and natural regeneration.
Ashen War

Lastly, the
Scars of the Ashen War, a realm ruled by dragons, is a key feature of the DLC. In this realm, a conflict called the Ashen War rages between two dragon factions: The
Dawn Wardens and
The Reshapers. This realm brings unique opportunities and challenges, including quests and powerful dragon cities.Age of Wonders 4: Dragon Dawn is scheduled to release on 20th June 2023.
